Mayor Lee Gowen: Ribbon cutting ceremony and proclamation June 1 Raymond Roberts Day

Mayor Lee Gowen, representing the City of Folkston, joined friends, family, and neighbors at the park for the official ribbon-cutting, marking Sowing Seeds as the outright new owner of Raymond Roberts Legacy Park.

Mayor Gowen gave the opening remarks and read a proclamation officially naming June 1st as Raymond Roberts Day, with Mr. Roberts' wife, children, grandchildren, and many loved ones on hand to see it happen.

Then the day turned into what it should be: a community cookout, dominoes in the shade, basketball games, music for all ages, bounce houses and water slides for the kids, and volunteers in "Get In Good Trouble" t-shirts keeping it all moving. An afternoon that put the work of Sowing Seeds on full display — and in the history books.
